POSITION: Head Lifeguard

The Greater Scranton YMCA is seeking a Head Lifeguard. Days and times are negotiable. The Head Lifeguard assures for the safety of all aquatics participants in and around the pool area, maintains a safe pool environment, and supervises all other lifeguards. In the absence of the Aquatics Director, the Head Lifeguard supervisors all functions in the pool area.
Interested applicants must be 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and hold certifications in: YMCA lifeguard; CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Oxygen. Applicants must have at least two years of experience as a lifeguard; be proficient in swimming and safety skills; demonstrate qualities as a leader and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision; be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly to an emergency. The finance director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Finance Director at the Greater Scranton YMCA serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team; oversees and manages financial matters, investments, H/R, and information systems; and provides strategic direction and leadership for YMCA business operations and initiatives. The Finance Director also positions the Y as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues.
