POSITION: Head Lifeguard

The Greater Scranton YMCA is seeking a Head Lifeguard. Days and times are negotiable. The Head Lifeguard assures for the safety of all aquatics participants in and around the pool area, maintains a safe pool environment, and supervises all other lifeguards. In the absence of the Aquatics Director, the Head Lifeguard supervisors all functions in the pool area.
Interested applicants must be 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and hold certifications in: YMCA lifeguard; CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Oxygen. Applicants must have at least two years of experience as a lifeguard; be proficient in swimming and safety skills; demonstrate qualities as a leader and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision; be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly to an emergency. POSITION: Preschool Teacher (Dunmore and Olyphant Centers)
JOB TYPE: Full-time and Part-time opportunities

The Greater Scranton YMCA is seeking a motivated preschool teacher to join our team! Duties of the Preschool teacher include designing and implementing lesson plans, supervising meal times, overseeing daily routines and interacting with parents. If you have previous experience in early childhood education, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, a successful preschool teacher will collaborate with existing staff to create an educational environment in which our preschool children can learn, grow and develop.
Responsibilities:

The Greater Scranton YMCA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Pre-K Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children. This role requires a commitment to child welfare and the ability to implement engaging lesson plans that align with developmental milestones.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that promotes learning through play and exploration.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate various subjects including physical education, arts, and literacy.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while promoting positive interactions among students.
- Assess and document children’s progress and development in accordance with early childhood education standards.
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and creativity.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns related to behavior or development.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.

Qualifications:
- CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience in daycare settings or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and child welfare practices is essential.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or other educational philosophies is a plus.
- Strong skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and tutoring young children.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
